PRIVACY POLICY
EFFECTIVE AS OF JULY 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SolarSesame collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with our websites, consultations, sales, financing, installation, servicing, and other home improvement activities. California residents should review Section 13 for additional disclosures and rights.
1. Introduction and scope
SolarSesame, Inc. and its subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, brands, and businesses (collectively, “SolarSesame,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information and the choices and rights available to you.
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through SolarSesame websites, customer portals, mobile or web-based applications, online forms, social media pages, email, text messages, telephone calls, virtual meetings, in-home consultations, property visits, project sites, events, and other online or offline interactions associated with our products, services, and business activities (collectively, the “Services”).
SolarSesame is a California home improvement contractor that may market, design, sell, finance, arrange, install, monitor, maintain, repair, or service solar energy systems, battery storage systems, roofing, heating and air conditioning equipment, electrical upgrades, electric vehicle charging equipment, energy-efficiency products, and other home-related products and services. We may expand, modify, or discontinue products and services over time.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information collected from employees, job applicants, or independent contractors in an employment or workforce context, except where required by law. It also does not apply to third-party websites, products, or services that maintain their own privacy policies.
2. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us, the products or services you request, and the stage of your project. We may collect the following categories of personal information:
A. Identifiers and Contact Information
- Name, signature, mailing address, service address, email address, telephone number, account number, customer or project identifier, online account credentials, and similar identifiers.
B. Property, Home, and Project Information
- Property ownership or occupancy information, property type, roof condition, roof dimensions, shading, photographs, videos, site survey information, construction details, electrical equipment, main service panel information, utility meter information, home layout, equipment location, permitting information, and other information concerning the property or proposed project.
C. Energy and Utility Information
- Utility provider, utility account information, electric or gas bills, rate plans, energy usage and consumption history, demand data, interval data, system production, battery usage, grid-service participation, and other energy-related information.
D. Commercial and Transaction Information
- Products or services requested, proposals, designs, contracts, purchase and service history, project status, pricing, discounts, incentives, warranties, rebates, referrals, payment history, account balances, customer support records, and information about your preferences or interests.
E. Financial and Financing Information
- Payment method, bank or payment card information, financing preferences, household income ranges, credit-related information, loan, lease, power purchase agreement, or other financing application information. Depending on the transaction, sensitive financial information may be collected directly by a lender, financing provider, payment processor, or other third party rather than by SolarSesame.
F. Government and Regulatory Information
- Driver’s license or other government identification, Social Security number, tax-related information, permit documentation, utility authorization forms, and other information required for identity verification, financing, permitting, incentives, interconnection, tax reporting, or legal compliance. We collect or process this information only when reasonably necessary and permitted by law.
G. Internet, Device, and Website Activity
- Internet Protocol address, device identifier, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, dates and times of visits, approximate location derived from an IP address, form activity, website interactions, email engagement, and information collected through cookies, pixels, tags, session replay tools, and similar technologies.
H. Communications and Customer Service Information
- Emails, text messages, chat transcripts, call notes, support requests, complaints, reviews, survey responses, and other communications with us.
I. Audio, Electronic, Visual, and Similar Information
- Recordings of telephone calls, virtual meetings, in-home or remote sales consultations, customer service interactions, training sessions, and other communications; photographs and videos of a property, job site, equipment, completed work, inspections, offices, events, or interactions with our personnel.
J. Professional and Business Information
- Employer, occupation, business affiliation, title, and information relating to a person acting on behalf of a business, property owner, trust, association, or other organization.
K. Inferences and Derived Information
- Inferences about product interests, service needs, eligibility, preferences, likely home improvement needs, marketing responsiveness, and other predictions or profiles derived from information we collect.
L. Sensitive Personal Information
Certain information described above may be considered “sensitive personal information” under California law, including Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, account login credentials, precise geolocation, and financial account information. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes reasonably necessary to provide requested products or services, process financing or payments, verify identity, maintain security, prevent fraud, comply with law, or as otherwise permitted by law. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
3. How We Collect Personal Information
A. Directly from You
We may collect personal information when you request a quote, schedule an appointment, complete a form, call or text us, communicate with a representative, participate in an in-home or virtual consultation, sign an agreement, apply for financing, make a payment, create or use an account, provide utility records, request service, submit a review, enter a promotion, or otherwise interact with us.
B. Through Property Visits and Project Activities
We may collect information during site surveys, inspections, installations, service visits, warranty work, permitting activities, utility interconnection, and other project-related activities. This may include photographs, videos, measurements, equipment information, and records of work performed.
C. From Third Parties
We may receive personal information from lenders, financing providers, lease or power purchase agreement providers, utilities, equipment manufacturers, distributors, subcontractors, installation partners, referral sources, lead sources, marketing partners, public records, government agencies, property records, credit or identity verification providers, analytics providers, advertising platforms, social media platforms, and other third parties, as permitted by law.
D. Automatically Through Technology
We and our service providers may automatically collect information when you use our websites, portals, emails, advertisements, or other digital services through cookies, pixels, web beacons, tags, software development kits, local storage, log files, session replay or interaction analytics, and similar technologies.
E. By Combining Information
We may combine information collected from you with information collected through other channels or received from third parties, including information associated with your property, utility account, project, installed equipment, financing, and prior interactions with us.
4. How we use personal information
We may use personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:
- To respond to inquiries, schedule appointments, provide consultations, prepare estimates and proposals, and recommend products or services.
- To evaluate a property, design a project, prepare plans, obtain permits, coordinate utility interconnection, schedule and complete installation, and provide monitoring, maintenance, repair, warranty, or customer support services.
- To determine product, program, incentive, financing, or service eligibility and to facilitate applications, underwriting, approvals, funding, payments, collections, and account servicing.
- To communicate regarding appointments, contracts, project status, permitting, inspections, installation, financing, payments, warranties, service requests, recalls, safety notices, and account administration.
- To market and advertise SolarSesame products and services, including solar, battery storage, roofing, HVAC, electrical work, EV charging, energy-efficiency products, maintenance plans, financing options, and other existing or future home improvement or home-related products and services.
- To personalize content, offers, recommendations, and advertisements and to measure the effectiveness of marketing and advertising campaigns.
- To record and review interactions for quality assurance, training, coaching, compliance, dispute resolution, safety, security, and recordkeeping.
- To operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve our websites, portals, systems, products, services, processes, and customer experience.
- To develop new products, services, programs, pricing, designs, tools, and business capabilities.
- To verify identity, detect and prevent fraud, protect customers and personnel, investigate security incidents, and enforce agreements and policies.
- To comply with licensing requirements, building codes, utility rules, tax and accounting obligations, legal process, regulatory inquiries, court orders, and other applicable laws.
- To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and protect the rights, property, safety, and security of SolarSesame, our customers, our personnel, and others.
- For any other purpose disclosed at the time of collection, with your consent, or as otherwise permitted by law.
5. Call, Meeting, and interaction recordings
All calls and interactions may be recorded for quality and training purposes.
More specifically, where permitted by applicable law and after any notice or consent required by law, SolarSesame and its representatives may record telephone calls, virtual meetings, in-home consultations, sales presentations, customer service interactions, project discussions, and other communications. We may use recording and conversation-intelligence technologies, including tools provided by third-party vendors, to record, transcribe, summarize, analyze, and evaluate interactions.
Recordings and related transcripts, notes, summaries, and analytics may be used for quality assurance, employee and representative training, coaching, compliance, customer service, documentation, dispute resolution, safety, fraud prevention, performance evaluation, and improvement of products, services, and sales processes. Please tell the representative if you do not wish to participate in a recorded interaction. Depending on the circumstances, we may continue the interaction through a non-recorded channel or may be unable to proceed with certain portions of the interaction
6. How we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
A. Lenders and Financing Partners
If you request or use financing, a lease, a power purchase agreement, a prepaid energy program, a payment plan, or another financial product, we may disclose personal information to banks, credit unions, lenders, finance companies, lease providers, power purchase agreement providers, program administrators, payment processors, credit reporting or identity verification providers, and related parties. These parties may use the information to evaluate eligibility, perform underwriting, verify identity, present offers, process applications, prepare agreements, fund projects, make payments, service accounts, collect amounts due, manage tax or energy attributes, and comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
Financing partners are independent businesses and may collect information directly from you. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy notices and applicable financial privacy laws.
B. Project and Home Service Partners
We may disclose personal information to subcontractors, installers, roofers, electricians, HVAC contractors, engineers, designers, site surveyors, inspectors, service technicians, equipment manufacturers, distributors, warranty administrators, monitoring providers, logistics providers, and other businesses involved in evaluating, designing, permitting, installing, servicing, or supporting your project.
C. Utilities, Government Agencies, and Program Administrators
We may disclose information to electric and gas utilities, community choice aggregators, building departments, fire authorities, permitting agencies, inspectors, state or local agencies, rebate and incentive administrators, energy program operators, and other entities as necessary to obtain permits, approvals, inspections, incentives, interconnection, permission to operate, or program participation.
D. Service Providers
We may disclose information to businesses that perform services for us, including website hosting, cloud storage, customer relationship management, communications, call recording, transcription, analytics, advertising, payment processing, document management, electronic signature, scheduling, customer support, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, data enrichment, mailing, accounting, legal, auditing, insurance, and other operational services.
E. Advertising and Analytics Partners
We may disclose identifiers, internet activity, approximate location, commercial information, and inferences to advertising, social media, and analytics partners through cookies, pixels, tags, or similar technologies to measure website use, understand audiences, improve campaigns, and deliver or measure advertising. Depending on the circumstances, these disclosures may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law even when no money is exchanged. See Sections 8 and 13 for choices available to California residents.
F. Affiliates and Business Partners
We may disclose information among SolarSesame affiliates, brands, subsidiaries, or commonly controlled businesses for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information to business partners when you request a jointly offered product, service, program, incentive, or promotion, or when necessary to fulfill your request.
G. Legal, Safety, and Compliance Disclosures
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, legal process, a subpoena, warrant, court order, government request, licensing or regulatory obligation; to enforce agreements; to collect amounts owed; to investigate fraud or security incidents; or to protect the rights, property, safety, or security of SolarSesame, our customers, our personnel, or others.
H. Business Transactions
We may disclose or transfer personal information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, transfer of a business line, due diligence process, or similar corporate transaction. Any recipient may continue to use the information as described in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.
I. With Your Direction or Consent
We may disclose information to other parties when you direct us to do so, consent to the disclosure, or intentionally interact with a third party through our Services.
J. De-identified and Aggregated Information
We may use and disclose de-identified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably be linked to a particular individual or household. When required by law, we will maintain such information in de-identified form and will not attempt to reidentify it except as permitted by law.
7.Sale and sharing personal information
SolarSesame does not sell personal information for money and does not operate as a data broker or sell consumer leads to unaffiliated lead buyers.
However, California law defines “sale” and “sharing” broadly. Certain disclosures to advertising, analytics, social media, or marketing technology providers through cookies, pixels, or similar tools may be treated as a sale or sharing even when no money is exchanged. SolarSesame may engage in such disclosures for analytics, campaign measurement, and cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may opt out as described in Section 13 and through any “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or cookie-preference link provided on our website.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age. We do not sell or share mobile telephone opt-in consent data with unaffiliated third parties for their independent text-message marketing.
8. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, tags, scripts, software development kits, session replay or interaction analytics, and similar technologies. These tools may collect website and device activity and may be used to:
- Operate and secure the Services;
- Remember preferences and form entries;
- Understand how visitors use the Services;
- Diagnose errors and improve performance;
- Measure advertising and campaign effectiveness;
- Create audiences and deliver, personalize, or measure advertisements; and
- Detect fraud, abuse, or unauthorized activity.
You can control cookies through browser settings and, where available, through our cookie preference tool. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality. Browser settings and opt-outs are often device- and browser-specific.
Where required by applicable law, we recognize opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for the browser or device sending the signal. We do not currently respond to other “Do Not Track” signals that are not legally required.
9. Communications, Telephone Calls, Text Messages, and Marketing Choices
A. Transactional and Service Communications
We may contact you by telephone, text message, email, mail, portal notification, or other means regarding an inquiry, appointment, quote, project, financing, payment, service request, warranty, safety issue, account, or other transaction. These communications may be sent even if you have opted out of promotional marketing, to the extent permitted by law.
B. Marketing Communications
Where permitted by law and consistent with any consent you provide, we may contact you about SolarSesame products, services, offers, programs, financing options, and other home-related products or services. Communications may be sent using automated systems, prerecorded or artificial voice, or automated text-message technologies where legally permitted and consented to.
Consent to receive marketing calls or text messages is not a condition of purchasing goods or services. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
C. Opting Out
- Email: Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email.
- Text messages: Reply STOP to a marketing text message. You may receive a confirmation message.
- Telephone calls: Ask the caller to place you on SolarSesame’s internal Do Not Call list, call 650-777-8645, or email contact@solarsesame.com.
- Mail: Contact us using the information in Section 16.
An opt-out request may not stop communications sent before the request is processed, and it will not prevent non-marketing communications concerning an existing or requested transaction, project, account, safety issue, warranty, or legal obligation.
10. Energy Usage and Utility Information
To evaluate, design, install, finance, monitor, service, or support energy products and programs, we may access, collect, store, use, and disclose energy usage information. This may include utility bills, interval data, rate schedules, electric load, system production, battery operation, and other information associated with a customer, household, residence, or utility account.
We may obtain energy usage information directly from you, from a utility with your authorization, from installed equipment, from financing or program partners, or from other authorized sources. We may disclose this information to utilities, financing providers, program administrators, contractors, service providers, equipment manufacturers, monitoring providers, and governmental or regulatory entities as reasonably necessary to provide requested services, administer energy programs, comply with law, protect safety, or respond to legal process.
11. DATA SECURITY
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, acquisition, use, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These safeguards may include access controls, authentication, encryption, secure hosting, monitoring, vendor management, employee training, and incident response procedures.
No security system or method of electronic transmission is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for promptly notifying us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
12. DATA RETENTION
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide and service products, complete projects, maintain warranty and workmanship records, support monitoring and customer accounts, process payments, administer financing, comply with licensing and legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, defend claims, prevent fraud, and maintain business records.
Retention periods vary based on the type and sensitivity of information, the nature and duration of the customer relationship, contract and warranty terms, applicable statutes of limitation, regulatory and accounting requirements, and whether deletion is technically feasible. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, aggregate, or securely isolate it, subject to legal and operational requirements.
13. California Privacy Notice
This Section supplements the remainder of this Privacy Policy and applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), applies to SolarSesame and the relevant personal information. Terms defined in the CCPA have the same meanings in this Section.
A. Categories Collected, Sources, Purposes, and Disclosures
During the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 from the sources listed in Section 3, used them for the purposes listed in Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients listed in Section 6. The exact categories depend on your interactions with us.

B. California Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable exceptions and verification requirements, California residents may have the following rights:
- Right to Know and Access. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom information was disclosed, sold, or shared.
- Right to Delete. Request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions, including information needed to complete transactions, provide requested services, maintain warranties, comply with law, prevent fraud, or establish or defend legal claims.
- Right to Correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information maintained about you.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. Request that we not sell or share personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may also use a recognized opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control.
- Right to Limit Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information. Where applicable, request that we limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to purposes permitted by law. SolarSesame already uses sensitive personal information only for such limited purposes and does not use it to infer characteristics.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. Exercise privacy rights without receiving unlawful discriminatory treatment.
- Right to Data Portability. Receive certain information in a portable and, where technically feasible, readily usable format.
C. How to Submit a California Privacy Request
You may submit a request by:
- Emailing contact@solarsesame.com with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line;
- Calling 650-777-8645; or
- Using any privacy request, “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information,” or cookie-preference form or link made available on our website.
Please describe your request and provide sufficient information to allow us to identify relevant records and verify your identity. Depending on the request, we may ask you to confirm information already associated with your account, project, or prior interactions. We will use verification information only to process and protect the request.
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request. We may require proof that the agent is authorized and may require you to verify your identity directly with us, unless the agent holds a valid power of attorney under California law.
We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may deny or limit a request where an exception applies, where we cannot reasonably verify identity or authority, or where the request is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. We will explain the basis for any denial when required by law.
D. Opt-Out Preference Signals
Where required by law, we process a browser-based opt-out preference signal, such as the Global Privacy Control, as a valid request to opt out of sale or sharing for the browser or device that sends the signal. If you are logged into an account and the signal can be associated with that account, we may apply the request more broadly as required by law.
E. Financial Incentives
SolarSesame may offer referral rewards, discounts, promotions, loyalty benefits, or other programs that could be considered a financial incentive under California law. When required, we will provide program-specific terms describing the material terms, how to participate or withdraw, and any good-faith estimate of the value of personal information associated with the program. Participation is voluntary.
F. California “Shine the Light”
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits certain California residents to request information regarding disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. SolarSesame does not disclose personal information to unaffiliated third parties for their own direct marketing purposes without appropriate authorization. Requests may be submitted using the contact information in Section 16.
14. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 through the Services. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete the information.
15. Third-Party Websites, Platforms, and Services
Our Services may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, applications, social media platforms, financing portals, payment services, manufacturer portals, utility services, or other third-party offerings. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy, security, or content practices of third parties. Information you provide directly to a third party is governed by that party’s privacy policy and terms.
