About the position
We are seeking an experienced Solar Service Technician to support our North California operations. This person will focus on servicing existing systems, troubleshooting monitoring issues, ensuring code compliance, attending inspections, and driving projects through PTO and final commissioning. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in residential solar, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with homeowners, inspectors, and internal teams.
What you will do:
- Diagnose and repair existing solar systems, including inverters, optimizers, monitoring equipment, and communication issues.
- Lead system commissioning and ensure successful PTO (Permission to Operate) by working closely with utilities and AHJs.
- Update or reinstall monitoring devices (Wi-Fi, cellular, gateways, CTs) to restore full system visibility and reporting.
- Document inspection results, service findings, corrective actions, and site photos for internal records.
- Immediately escalate inspection failures, safety issues, or system deficiencies to project managers and operations leadership.
- Identify, diagnose, and repair roof leaks related to solar installations, ensuring proper flashing, waterproofing, and long-term roof integrity.
What you will need to succeed:
- Experience commissioning and troubleshooting solar + storage systems (Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, Qhome, etc.).
- Electrical experience required — must be able to identify NEC-compliant installations
- Hands-on knowledge of battery backup systems (Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, Qhome etc.)
- Familiarity with building codes, electrical codes, and permitting processes
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills — must be proactive on-site
- Comfortable working in the field at multiple locations
- Ability to climb roofs, lift equipment, and work in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Certifications (not mandatory but a plus):
- NABCEP Certification
- Journeyman Electrician License
- OSHA 10/30 Certification
